Tampa
Bay Storm football games will be broadcast on Spanish-language
radio this season as
the result of a marketing agreement between Palace Sports & Entertainment
and Nuevo Advertising Group of Sarasota.
In addition to the Storm's home games being carried on WRMD-AM "Rumba
680," Nuevo Advertising will assist with Hispanic marketing
efforts for the five-time Arena Football League champions.
Detroit-based Palace Sports, which owns the Tampa Bay Lightning
hockey team and operates the St. Pete Times Forum, handles the
Storm's local and national marketing.
Neil Fernandez and Enrique Oliu will call the action during the
eight Spanish-language games on Rumba 680. Fernandez is a well-known
radio personality who served as the Spanish voice of the Tampa
Bay Buccaneers from 1999-2002, while Oliu has provided color commentary
for Spanish broadcasts of Bucs and Tampa Bay Devil Rays games.
The Storm open their 2005 season against the San Jose SaberCats
at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Forum in downtown Tampa. The SaberCats
are defending AFL champions, while the Storm won the ArenaBowl
two years ago.
